Concentration and spirit won the day for Germany

Press Conference of Japan - Erika Araki (left), Masayoshi Manabe (center), and Maiko Kano (right)

GERMANY

Head Coach Giovanni Guidetti: We knew that today was for sure a difficult match because we know the Japan team. We played them five times this year, three in friendly matches and two in official matches.  We approached the match very concentrated and did what we had to do. I saw a very, very good spirit in my team right to the end of the match. The players were fighting and diving for every ball. It is always an honour and a pleasure to play in front of so many spectators. I am very happy about what we did today.

Captain Christiane Furst: It was a great match and we are really happy that we won. We had some difficult moments, and apart from the second set we played the rest really concentrated. I am really happy that my team was so good today.

JAPAN

Head Coach Masayoshi Manabe:  Japan was upset by the really good service of Germany, so Japan could not do serve reception very well. Japan made a lot of mistakes in spiking and serving.

Captain Erika Araki: Today our team made many mistakes and I am very sorry that we lost. I want to change my mindset for the last four games.

Maiko Kano: We wanted to build our offence on our serving and destroy the reception of Germany, but that was done by Germany. Germany thought a lot about their serve and our reception was beaten by that.
