We control what we have to control, says the USA's head coach

USA
Head coach Hugh McCutcheon:
“We tried to control what we must control the game and we accomplished that. We also tried to refrain from making mistakes. We played our level. I think we played a bit better than yesterday. We have to prepare for our next match against Thailand. It should be a competitive match against the host side.”

Captain Nancy Metcalf:
“We expected to win this match and we could make it. I’m happy that we made it again. We have to keep on our form and will try our best to beat Thailand in our last match here.

Puerto Rico
Assistant coach Humberto Rodriguez (replacing the sick head coach Carlos Cardona):
“We made too many mistakes. We wanted to win, but we could not do that. The USA blocked well. Their reception was also good. We have to come up with the better form in the match against Russia. However, I think that after losing the match to us, Russia must come up much stronger tomorrow. We have to improve our game for the match against Russia. As far as I’m concerned, the USA’s head coach is so smart. He read our game well.”

Captain Vilmarie Mojica:
“We played our level, but we played with a lot of mistakes. To match Russia, we have to improve our game.”
