China make winning start in Hong Kong with straight sets
Facing the strongest and seemingly undefeatable volleyball team in the world, Dominican Republic did not allow the China team to widen the gap in the first set. Both China and Dominican Republic made a few serving and receiving mistakes at the first set, yet China was able to take control of the set. Dominican Republic was forced to call the first time out in order to give the players a break. Nevertheless, the two substitutions and another time out did not help the Team in the final moment. China closed the set with 25 to 20.

Dominican Republic bravely attacked back at the beginning of the second set. Sound spikes from players #1 (Annerys Vargas Valdez) and #14 (Prisilla Rivera Brens) helped Dominican Republic gained an 8-5 lead before the first technical time out.
Dominican Republic continuously showed a tremendous amount of confidence in spiking and serving towards the second technical timeout. Never China a time to breathe, points went up tightly and it marked the most exciting moment in set two. Yet, the more experienced China Team eventually took the set with a deuce of two points.

Confident smiles on the face of the Chinese players went along with their impressive unity. Since the Chinese players were able to take a better grasp of the rhythm of the game, they finally beat the young Dominican Republic Team with three straight sets.
