JOSE GUIMARAES (BRAZIL HEAD COACH): "I did not like this match, and my team did not play well. It's always difficult to play against Japan for us, but the important thing is we won."
VALESKA MENEZES (BRAZIL No. 8, CAPTAIN): "I knew it would be tough because Japan were playing at home and the cheering of the crowd would put us under pressure. In the second set we lost our rhythm, and we needed to stay patient to win through."
MIYUKI TAKAHASHI (JAPAN No. 5): "We played against Brazil in the preliminary round, but did not do a good job today compared to last time, especially in blocking and serve reception."
SHOICHI YANAGIMOTO (JAPAN HEAD COACH): "We played a long match against Brazil in the preliminary rounds, but did not learn our lessons from that experience. We were always playing catch-up, and needed to be in front to set our own pace."
