World Grand Prix 2005 - Press Conference

Press conference

Japan beat Netherlands 3-1 (22-25, 25-20, 28-26, 25-22) - duration 2:04
14-Jul, start time: 18:00, end time: 20:04 - Attendance: 8'500
City: Sendai; Hall : Sendai City Gymnasium
INGRID VISSER (NETHERLANDS No. 15, CAPTAIN): "In the first set we could play a good game, but after the second set we gradually made a lot of errors. Especially in the fourth set with our serving, even though serving is one of our strong points."

AVITAL SELINGER (NETHERLANDS HEAD COACH): "We had chances but could not utilise them. Our players could not put the Japanese under enough pressure, and we made too many mistakes from the third set."

KAORU SUGAYAMA (JAPAN No. 6): "I couldn't play as well as I wanted, but the other players helped me. This earned us the victory."

AI OTOMO (JAPAN No. 12): "We played well as a team today, and produced some good combinations. I still feel I made a lot of mistakes and want to improve."

SHOICHI YANAGIMOTO (JAPAN HEAD COACH): "The most important thing was to wait for our opportunities. This is one of our strong points. The service errors of the Dutch team helped us win, and today's victory is very meaningful for us."
