14-Jul, start time: 15:05, end time: 17:04 - Attendance: 6'100
City: Sendai; Hall : Sendai City Gymnasium
LUIS FELIPE CALDERON (CUBA HEAD COACH): "It was a great match, and Brazil concentrated all the way from the first set to the last. They were a really strong team, and Cuba made too many mistakes on serve reception."
YUMILKA RUIZ (CUBA No. 1, CAPTAIN): "It was a wonderful game to play in, even though we lost. Both teams played to their maximum."
JOSE GUIMARAES (BRAZIL HEAD COACH): "This victory is very important for the rest of the tournament. Cuba is a very difficult team to play against as they have two setters, so it is hard to read their tactics. But we concentrated all the way, chased every ball and ran hard. Doing the basics right got us through."
PAULA PEQUENO (BRAZIL No. 4): "I had a feeling it would go to five sets, so I knew it was important to keep my concentration all the way through. Cuba's serving is always strong, so we had to play a smart game."
