MARCO BONITTA (ITALY HEAD COACH): "Here in Japan, against Japan, we always have a difficult match. But today our blocking and defence was quite effective, particularly in the first and third sets when we played superbly. I am very happy with the way they played today, so maybe this win gives the whole team confidence."
NADIA CENTONI (ITALY No. 9): "We played very well today, almost perfect. We did not lose our concentration at any time during the match. I expected a much tougher match today, but obviously not."
SHOICHI YANAGIMOTO (JAPAN HEAD COACH): "Italy played very smart in terms of strategy, and we could not break through their clever tactics. Japan is a team with good defence, but today our defence was below par."
MIYUKI TAKAHASHI (JAPAN No. 5): "We could not hang in there, mainly because our defence did not function. We very much rely on our defence, and when it does not work it is difficult for us to play against such a good team as Italy."
