City: Reggio Calabria; Hall : Palacalafiore Italy hammered Santo Domingo. A very good start for the Bonitta's girls
Italy took immediately the control of the first set since the very beginning of the period. A couple of blocks and an efficient series of winning attacks put Bonitta's team 8-3 at the first technical time out. Then eight points in a row put Italy ahead 15-3 on the scoreboard. The best condition to clinch the first set. Valentina Fiorin gave to the Italian team a strong contribution in defence. Another brick to build a winning set in 19 minutes. The music sound the same in the second set. The Carribeans suffered a lot in receiving and their naïve attacking patterns gave Italy the opportunity to remain in the total control of the match. Valentina Fiorin confirmed the high standards of the first set finalizing the job of a clockwork team like the one Bonitta organized. It was easy for Italy to close in just 18 minutes also the second set. No way and no hope for a Caribbean comeback. Same pattern in the third set. The quality Italy put on the match gave no chance to Francisco Cruz team. Italy put pressure and went ahead 16-7 in the second technical time out. A lots of mistakes from the Dominicans helped Marco Bonitta's team to remain in confortable control of a real no-contest match. A good beginning for Italy. A reasonable chance for the Caribbean to understand what is wrong and what they have to do to be more competitive.
