World Grand Prix 2005 - Press Conference

Press conference

Japan beat Poland 3-0 (25-16, 25-11, 25-17) - duration 1:20
24-Jun, start time: 18:00, end time: 19:20 - Attendance: 9'200
City: Tokyo; Hall : Yoyogi
YANAGIMOTO, Shoichi (JPN Head Coach)
"It has only been a short time since this team was organized. We focused on the harmony of the team, and repeated what each member had to do, and this turned out well in our game today. It's true that the players from the Athens Olympics are the base of this team, but all the new players performed well. We gained confidence as a team by winning this first game."

TAKESHITA, Yoshie (JPN Captain)
"It was the first game and we wanted to gain momentum by winning. At first I could not play smoothly, but gradually our team showed good teamwork."

YOSHIZAWA, Chie (JPN Player)
"As this was the first game, we all wanted to win and showed a strong team spirit. I think my attacking was good today but there were errors in service reception and I need to conquer this in the next match."

NIEMCZYK, Andrzej (POL Head Coach)
"We played badly. Everything did not go well. Especially the serves were terrible. I don't know what the cause was, but we could not keep calm. We picked up the pace in the third set, but it was a terrible game as a whole."

PRZYBYSZ, Aleksandra (POL Captain)
"Japan played very well, and our team played the worst. We are still suffering from jet lag, though that was not the cause of our defeat."
