World Grand Prix 2004 - Press Info

Press conference

Cuba beat Germany 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-21) - duration 1:19
29-Jul, start time: 20:05, end time: 21:24 - Attendance: 800
City: Reggio Calabria; Hall : Palapentimele hall
Angelina Grün (German captain):
"We are not pleased. We didn't performed to our normal level. We hope we will play better tomorrow. We know that Cuba were very stong. They won against Brazil yesterday, and we already lost against them this season. We hoped to win at least a set, but we didn't."

Yumilka Ruiz (Cuba captain):
"I think that it was a good match, even if there times when we lost concentration, but during the match we managed to control it at the most important times."

Hee-Wan Lee (Germany head coach):
"We knew already the Cuban strength. We performed as we could. We surely made some mistakes, but they were stronger than us and they deserved to win."

Luis Felipe Calderon (Cuba head coach):
"We cannot say we are not satisfied about the result, but we were also worried about the improvement of Germany during the match. Surely we would like to win the gold medal here, but our play is not at its best yet, and we need to contest other important clashes against strong opponents before we think of anything."
