World Grand Prix 2004 - Press Info

Press conference

Germany beat Thailand 3-1 (25-14, 25-20, 23-25, 25-22) - duration 1:51
22-Jul, start time: 20:35, end time: 22:26 - Attendance: 1'100
City: Rostock, Germany; Hall : Stadthalle Rostock
Hee Wan Lee (head coach Germany): "We started well in the first set, but then made too many easy mistakes. It is my task to work on that. Judith Sylvester is back in her usual good shape, and Kerstin Tzscherlich also played a very good match."

Angelina Gruen (team captain Germany): "The first match in front of a home crowd is always very tough. We dominated the first set, but also showed good morale when Thailand got into the game and defended superbly. We m ade the first important step necessary for reaching the final round, and it wasn't easy."

Nataphon Srisamutnak (head coach Thailand): "Germany served very well in the first set and we had problems in receiving. But we could improve our serve which paid off by winning one set. I think we gained a lot of experience today."

Nurak Nokputta (player no. 4, Thailand): "We did not play very well today and were particularly bad in receiving. We also had a huge disadvantage because the Germans are much taller than we are. We are hoping to improve in our next match."
