World Grand Prix 2004 - Press Info

Press conference

U.S.A. beat Russia 3-1 (25-13, 21-25, 25-21, 25-15) - duration 1:39
22-Jul, start time: 18:05, end time: 19:44 - Attendance: 850
City: Rostock, Germany; Hall : Stadthalle Rostock
Tara Cross-Battle (team captain USA): "Our team started out okay, then struggled with the rhythm but finished pretty well. It was another win, and that is good."

Toshiaki Yoshida (head coach USA): "It was up and down, we did not play well and could have executed better. We struggled. However, winning was good, and I think we learned a lesson today. Today the US NOC must give twelve names to the Athens Olympic Organizing Committee. I don't know what they have decided. Our goal in Athens is a medal, preferably the highest_"

Mikhail Omelchenko (coach Russia): "We had a long, difficult travel from Indonesia and upon arrival here in Germany my team was totally exhausted. The USA arrived here a day earlier and consequently had more opportunities for training and to get acclimatised. But I wouldn't have thought that they played that badly as they did today. Our best players are not here because they are recovering from injuries and minor problems. Artamonova underwent back-treatment, Tishenko surgery on both knees."

Anastasia Belikova (team player 3, Russia): "The coach has said what there is to say, I agree ith him. It was our worst match so far in this World Grand Prix."
