Puerto Rico qualify for the first time to FIVB World Cup. The Team defeat once again Cuba in the 2007 NORCECA Championship Semi Final, after five fought set. The Puerto Rican area ready to the Cup and the goal is simple to make the best performance and to have the best preparation to NORCECA Olympic Qualification Tournament in Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico Team prepared to battle face to face against the traditional world volleyball power and to look the rematch against some rivals of the last year World Championship Before the NORCECA Championship the Team participated in the XV Pan American Games in Brazil with finish in 5th place and win the silver medal in II Pan American Cup in Dominican Republic, also qualify to the 2008 America's Cup. During the 2006, the Island celebrate the great performance in 2006 FIVB World Championship in Japan and the gold medal in XX Central American and Caribbean Games in Colombia		This will be the second occasion with Argentina coach, Carlos Cardona lead the Puerto Rico Men’s National Team in Japan, a the great performance in last year FIVB World Championship. Cardona born in the city of Rosario, Argentina. After its graduated began a successful coaching career with included the Argentina National League, Italy League A-1 (three different club - Grottazzolina, Petrolifano and Gioia), also work in the Italian B-1 League with Grottazzolina and Piceno. In 2003 arrival to Puerto Rico to coaching the club San Juan Playeros in the Puerto Rico Men’s League during that time it had successful seasons and participated in the Final Series (1) and various Semi Final. During the 2006 the Puerto Rico Volleyball Federation talk with Cardona it acquired the services for the FIVB World Championship in Japan. Last September, Cardona back to the Island and with just a short time of preparation it united the team that profit the historical second place in the NORCECA Championship and qualify to the FIVB World Cup.
