Brazil is always a great rival for Italy’s Cristofani

Italian Libero Chiara Scarabelli controls a ball in the match against Brazil. Italy won in straight sets and will match Turkey on Saturday.

Tijuana, Mexico, October 11, 2013.- Italian coach Luca Cristofani stated that the victory over Brazil is always important and also a great motivation. The Italian team, according to Cristofani, expected to go further and to play for the  Podium. However, the competition was very tough, but expect to finish within top 5.

Ellen Braga, captain of Brazil. Congratulations to Italy, they play a really good match today.

Alessia Genari, captain of Italy: We are glad for this victory and are ready for our next match tomorrow against Turkey.

Luca Cristofani, coach of Italy: We feel a little bit sad. Psychologically, it is difficult for us. We expected to compete for a medal at this tournament. But playing against Brazil is always something great. I feel a great respect for them and feel happy for this win in this match against Brazil.

Claudio Lopes Pinheiro, coach of Brazil: Congratulations to Italy. It was a beautiful match. I think that Italy played really well. For us, due to refereeing issues in Mexicali during the match against USA, there were four referee mistakes in the fourth set that affected our team. Congratulations to Italy. Unfortunately the referees affected Brazil.
