Turkey pass over Germany, to play for fifth place

Tijuana, Mexico, October 11, 2013 - Turkey will play for the fifth place at FIVB Women’s U23 World Championship on Saturday, after beating Germany 3-0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-19).


Turkish captain Gözde Yimlaz scored 16 points and Özge Nur Yurtdagülen finished with 11. On the German side, Katharida Schwabe closed with 11 and captain Jennifer Geerties with 5.


Turkey showed dominance in the first two sets with a 12 points advantage. In the third German captain Jennifer Geerties combine a couple of positive plays for her team in spike as well as good blocks by Rebecca Schäperklaus.


Germany had a couple of errors despite some Turkish failed services and defensive plays. However the team coached by Mehme Bedestenlioglu had a 11-5 block kills advantage over the Germans that gave 27 points in errors.


Dicle Nur Babat had six points to be the top blocker, while Shäperklaus finished with only two for Germany.


Turkish service produced 7 aces ( Three by captain Gözde Yilmaz and two by Seyma Ërkan) against only one by Germany (Leonie Schwertmann), that will play for positions 7-8.
