The Dominicans will be ready for USA

The attacks down the middle helped Dominican Republic throughout the preliminary phase

Tijuana, Mexico, October 9, 2013 – The Dominican Republic will play against USA in the semifinals of the tournament and their Brazilian coach Marcos Kwiek says they have been playing every match like it is the final of the tournament and won’t be different in the semis.

Brayelin Martinez, captain of Dominican Republic: We feel elated with this victory and also with the chance of being in the semifinals. Now we have to continue battling to hopefully win the championship.

Alejandra Perales, captain of Mexico: The Dominican team is very strong and experienced so we are happy after playing a good game against them. For moments we were able to control their strong attacks so we leave the tournament with a good taste.

Marcos Kwiek, coach of Dominican Republic: We are focused to play every match as a final and now we know we have to play USA in the semis and won’t be different. Our team has a good balance and has been improving the serves and the defence with the tournament. Today I used Erasma Moreno in the third set and she responded. That’s why these U23 events are so important because players receive the chance to accumulate experience.

Francisco Pineda, coach of Mexico: Congratulations to Dominican Republic, a team I consider will be among the top three at the end. I am satisfied with our performance and now we have to continue working in our reception, one of our main problems.
