We like to be challenged, USA Captain Mancuso remarks

Ariel Turner of USA rescues a ball near the court's control table, while assistant coach Reed Sunahara watches the play.

Mexicali, Mexico, October 8, 2013 - Despite the loss, Americans are still huge contenders at FIVB Women’s U23 World Championship Open with a 3-1 record, while two teams from Asia remain undefeated. However, according to USA Captain, Gina Mancuso facing China was one of the challenges they like to take.

Gina Mancuso, captain of USA: Certainly it was a fun match, but with more fun for China, because they won. They are really athletic. We like to be challenged.

Di Yao, captain of China: In the beginning we started very well and played well in the first set, but in the next ones we lost concentration.

Karch Kiraly, coach of USA: Congratulations to China. It was a nice win and as Gina said, it was a great battle with ups and downs, but China played down the strecht and got the points.  Now we have to prepare against Brazil.

Jiande Xu, coach of China: Sets two and three were not so good for us. We didn’t had the technique and no sprint, so in the last two ones recovered and played good again.
