Brazil and Cuba play always a tough battle: coaches

Mara Leao of Brazil spikes against Cuban players Jennifer Alvarez and Rossana Giel.

Mexicali, Mexico, October 5 2013 - It doesn’t matter age group or category. Volleyball matches between Cuba and Brazil are always a tough battle, according to coaches Juan Carlos Gala and Claudio Lopes Pinheiro.

Claudio Lopes Pinheiro, Coach of Brazil: “These kind of matches are always tough. So it was today. Cuba played very well. My team did a good job technically and tactically. We had only ten days practicing before the World Championship, but expect to grow up as competitions goes by.”

Juan Carlos Gala, coach of Cuba: “The first two sets were very tight. It was a good caliber match to evaluate where we are. Unfortunately we lost our concentration in the end and now we have to think about our next rival.”

Daymara Lescay, Captain of Cuba: “We went out to win. Unfortunately we couldn’t close most of the sets. We could do things better. Congratulations to Brazil.”

Ellen Braga, Captain of Brazil: “We are very glad for this win. Our team played very well. We expected a very difficult match. It was tough, sets were very tight.”
