Karch Kiraly is serving as the head
coach for the U23 World Championship Team. He is also currently in his first
season as head coach of the U.S. Women's National Volleyball Team, which has
recorded a 21-5 record this season with titles at the Pan American Cup and
NORCECA Women's Continental Championship, along with a sixth-place finish in
the World Grand Prix.
Karch Kiraly, 51, a legendary
volleyball player in the indoor and beach disciplines, was an assistant coach
for the U.S. women’s team that earned the silver medal at the 2012 Olympic
Games. He was subsequently named the programme’s head coach for the next
Olympic Games quadrennial.
Kiraly has been recognised by many as
the greatest volleyball player ever. He is the only volleyball player – male or
female – to win Olympic gold medals in both the indoor and beach volleyball
disciplines. The International Volleyball Federation named Kiraly as the
greatest men’s volleyball player of the sport’s first century.
