Team profile

Cuba is looking forward to being part of the first edition of the FIVB U23 Women’s World Championship, a tournament that will feature many players who are already established in top national teams and other players on the verge of international recognition.

Cuba, coached by senior national team coach Juan Carlos Gala Rodriguez, reflects this makeup of experience and youth. The team includes players who have experience of top-level competition such as the recent FIVB World Grand Prix.

Established players such as Rosanna Giel, Emily Borrell and Daymara Lescay will feature in the team, as well as promising youngster Melissa Vargas, who is just 13 years old but is seen as a vital player for Cuban volleyball. The team will be fighting point by point and match by match to succeed in the tournament.
