Team profile

China’s U23 women's volleyball team has been mainly formed with players from the bronze-medal team at the 2011 FIVB Junior Women's World Championship.

The players come from eight well-established provincial and municipal volleyball clubs as well as from the Army Volleyball Club. Their average age is 21 and their average height is 185 cm. Now, the team is preparing for the World Championship and are aiming for a good result.

 
Coach profile

Xu Jiande has long been involved in volleyball. He began at Chinese club Zhejiang in 1978 as a player before moving into coaching in 1989, winning the China Men’s Volleyball League in his very first year. From 1997 to 2010, Xu was coach of the Zhejiang Club women’s team and helped the team to the runners-up spot in the league.

Xu was subsequently invited to coach the national junior women's team and clinched the bronze medal in the 2011 FIVB Junior Women's World Championship in Peru. He led the team to the top of podium in the 2012 Asian Junior Women's Championship and the gold medal in the 2013 FIVB Junior Women's World Championship in the Czech Republic.
