Team profile

Argentina will have the honour of being one of the teams in the first FIVB U23 Women’s World Championship. The light-blue and white team has a rich history of success in México and can gain inspiration from the bronze medal achieved by the senior team in this year’s Pan American Cup. The Argentine boys have also done well in México, earning a fourth place in 2007 Youth Boys World Championship and a sixth spot in the same event held this year.

Coach profile

After a long volleyball journey with grass-root teams in Italy, Caceres arrived in Argentina in 2009 as a coach for the Argentine Youth’s Girls team and has been part of the coaching team since then. Under his leadership, the national team obtained an impressive runners-up place at the 2010 South American Championship and played in two World Championships – Turkey 2011 and Thailand 2013.

Born in Argentina in the Buenos Aires provincial city of Junin, he started his volleyball career with Club Gimnasia y Esgrima de Buenos Aires and stayed there for two decades. Then he moved to Europe, ending up in Siena, Italy, before returning to Argentina to coach the Argentine Youth’s Girls team.
