Team profile |
|
The Dominican Republic side includes a bunch of athletic guys who were instrumental in claiming the bronze medal at the U23 Pan American Cup with a decisive straight-set victory over hosts Canada in Langley in 2012.
Three players included in the squad, Luis Adames, Julio Almonte and Kelvin Campechano, are no stranger to the international scene as they have had past experiences playing with the senior national side.
The Dominican Republic didn’t play any preparation matches leading to this event but the coach Oziel Vazquez, who is also in charge of the senior team, is confident they can overcome that hurdle as the competition moves on. |

Coach profile |
|
Cuban-born Osiel Vazquez has been in charge of the Dominican Republic men’s volleyball program for the past five years and two years ago he assumed the coaching position of the senior team.
In his 21-year coaching career he was responsible of the Cuba’s youth team for two years before moving to the Dominican Republic.
A graduated from Jose Marti College in Cuba, Vazquez led the Dominican Republic men’s senior team to a third place at the 2012 Pan American Cup and the same year he guided the side to a bronze medal at the U23 Pan American Cup. |
