Powerful Canada send Mexico packing

Canada's Jarrid Ireland attacks Mexican triple block in their play off 9 to 16 positions at Men's U 21 World championship

Izmir, Turkey, August 30, 2013 – Canada retrieved the proper rhythm at 1-1 to clinch a 3-1 (25-23, 19-25, 25-13, 25-18) victory over Mexico in the classification 9 to 16 position of the FIVB Men's U21 World Championship at Ataturk Hall in Izmir, Turkey on Friday.

The key factor for the victory was the sharp services sent by Canada which disturbed Mexico throughout the match as they had 8 aces in comparison to 1 from their opponent.

Canada's opposite spiker Jayson Mccarthy was the match and his team scorer with 21 points including 5 aces, while Roberto Rincon contributed 18 points for Mexico as their side best scorer.

Canada had the upper hand in the first set as they served strongly beside the pressure they made through the blockers. Although the team captain and main setter Milan Nikic didn't start in the line up, his team could win the first set 25-23 after a great fight from the Mexican team.

Mexico's performance increasingly developed in the second set with their strong attacker Roberto Rincon playing a great role to maintain the pressure along with the blockers till they won the second set widely 25-19.

Canada team came back quickly and regained the starting rhythm to break through in the third set and entertain the game as they used the opposite Jayson Mccarthy to hammer the Mexicans with his attacks from position 2. Canada maintained the rhythm to win the second set 25-13.

The highly motivated Canada team went through easily in the fourth set to win 25-18 after some resistance from the Mexican team.
