FIVB Volleyball Girls' U18 World Championship

Press release

India played well while China were too tired from the match with Turkey

The coaches of India and China sre already thinking about the next phase of the U21 World Championship

Ankara, Turkey, August 26, 2013 – In addition to India’s good performance, China’s exhaustion from the previous evening’s five-setter against Turkey is attributed as one of the reasons for the outcome of Monday’s match between the two sides.  This is what the coaches and the captains had to say after India defeated China by 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-18) at the FIVB Volleyball Men's U21 World Championship in Ankara.

Di Zhang, coach of China: “Today, in my team actually each player was very tired after yesterday’s five-set match against Turkey. I think that the reason for our loss is just being tired after yesterday. But we will do our best in the next matches in classifications.”

Tianyi Mao, captain of China: “As our coach said, I think that the main problem was being tired after the game against Turkey. The next match in classifications will be more important and we will prepare for that match and rest before it.”

T.C. Jothish, coach of India: “It was just a good game today and to win against such a strong team as China gives us confidence. Teams that can combine well win games and we did it. Also, the Chinese team was tired as they played five sets yesterday - it could affect them. But our next game is more important and we will try to do our best then.”

Lavmeet Katariya, captain of India: “China is a very good side and we are happy to win against such a team. Our team played very well today. And we will try to play well in the next game although we do not know who our opponent is yet.”
