FIVB Volleyball Girls' U18 World Championship

Press release

I hope to keep it up in the following matches - captain Katariya

Captain Lavmeet Katarya led India to their first win in Ankara

Ankara, Turkey, August 24, 2013 – The team of India are happy for first victory and hope to keep it up in their next games of the FIVB Volleyball Men's U21 World Championship in Turkey.  This is what the coaches and the captains had to say after India defeated Morocco by 3-1 (23-25, 25-18, 26-24, 25-11).

Brahim Bouchdouk, coach of Morocco: “We had a good start of the match, but we were tired because of the game we played yesterday. We had to win this match to finish our pool among the top four teams. We have no chance now.  We will try to do our best in the following matches.”

El Graoui Zouhair, captain of Morocco: “We had a lot of hopes before the match. We had to win in order to take a good position in our pool. We started well, but we did not maintain our level. We are very sorry.”

T.C. Jothish, coach of India: “We are very happy for winning today. My team managed to coordinate their play better in the match and we hope we will play even better tomorrow. However we made some mistakes in blocking. I am happy for taking our first win in the championship.”

Lavmeet Katariya, captain of India: “We played well today. This is our first win and we are happy with it. I hope we will keep it up in the following matches.”
