FIVB Volleyball Girls' U18 World Championship

The 17th edition of the Men's U21 World Championship will run from August 22 to September 1, 2013 in the cities of Ankara and Izmir in Turkey.

While it is the first time that Turkey will host the 10-day Men's Under 21 World Championship, the country has hosted the Women's Under 20 World Championship in 2005 and the Girls' Under 18 World Championship in 2011.

Ankara (formerly known as Angora) is the country’s second largest city after Istanbul. It is located in the northwest about 200km south of the Black Sea, on a hill above the Anatolian plateau and is an important commercial and key industrial location. Ankara has been the seat of government since 1923 and houses all foreign embassies.

With 5,000 years of history, Izmir is one of Turkey’s most highly populated cities with a very efficient port, in the Aegean Sea, not far from Izmir Gulf. It is lively city with a decidedly international flavour punctuated by the contrast between the nearby mountains and its extraordinary shoreline.
