Nigeria coach Sergey Ovechkin: We made many mistakes today against Egypt

Nigeria coach Sergey Ovechkin

Brno, Czech Republic, June 22, 2013 – Egypt won against Nigeria 3-0 to lead the provisional standings in Pool D

Nigeria coach Sergey Ovechkin: We made many mistakes today. Yesterday we had problems only with the reception, but today were problematic all our playing activities – reception, attack and block. Maybe it’s a psychological moment because in the qualification in Abuja we didn’t make so many mistakes. We have to prepare us for the tomorrow’s match against Algeria as good as we can. We need all the players to be ready for the play. Our biggest problem is that we didn’t play many good friendly matches in our preparation last six weeks and this level of volleyball is much higher than ours.

Nigeria captain Mercy Promise: I’m sad. I think yesterday we played better than today. We’ll play against Algeria tomorrow and it’ll be very important match for us. We have to play better and also beat Algeria.

Egypt coach Hesham Badrawy: The match was very important for us because it is going to lead us at least to the third place in our group. We won against Nigeria in the African championship also 3-0. We have to concentrate for the next matches, tomorrow and the day after. It will be very important for us to win against Italy. We saw the match of Italy against Turkey today. We’ll do our best to surprise everyone tomorrow.

Egypt captain Farida El Askalany: We played against Nigeria in the African championship and we know how they play. That made it easier for us.
