Coaches of Brazil and Argentina glad with results

Brazil's Douglas Bastos was one of the offensive leaders in the victory over Argentina for fifth position

Tijuana, Mexico, July 7, 2013 – The coaches of Brazil and Argentina praised the talent of their players and the way they performed in the match for fifth place.

Both Percy Oncken and Julian Alvarez commented that in their respective lineups they have players with the skills to be future members of the senior national team of their countries.

Fabio Rodrigues, captain of Brazil: “We didn’t play a good first set but then we recovered and won a very interesting match. We need to continue working.”

Matias Miranda, captain of Argentina: “Brazil won a tough match. We are not leaving the way we wanted, a little sad because of the loss. We have to continue working to obtain better results.”

Percy Oncken, coach of Brazil: “The matches with Argentina are always very tough due to the quality of their players. The characteristic of Argentinean players is that they get good hits. Our tactic structure was prepared to stop Lazo and Melgarejo. The guy who replaced Melgarejo did a good job. The fifth place is important for us to continue working for the future. I think 1 or 2 players from this team will reach the senior national team someday.”

Julian Alvarez, coach of Argentina:
“I think it was a pretty volleyball match. The two teams played very well but Brazil deserved to win. The general balance for us is good with the sixth place and the number of matches we won. I think also that some of my players have the talent to make the national senior team of Argentina in the future.”
