Chile close in 13th place, win five setter over Mexico


Geiser Mejia of Mexico aginst Marcelo Concha of Chile. Both teams played hard at Mexicali State Auditorium. South Americans won 3-2.

Mexicali, Mexico, July 7 2013 - Chile finished in the 13th place at FIVB Boys' U19 World Championship after defeating hosts, Mexico, in a five sets match 3-2 (27-25, 23-25, 20-25, 27-25,15-13).

Dusan Bonacic scored 33 points and was followed by Marcelo Concha with 16 points and by Simon Guerra with 12. For Mexico, Enrique Ugalde closed with 24 points (20 spikes, 4 aces) and Ivan Molano converted 17.


Geiser Mejia scored 14 points (2 aces) and Alan Martinez 12, while Luis Bojorquez totalized 11.

Mexico had a very good start on the first set by serving and converting four consecutive points.


However, the South American team made the right adjustments to close the first set on their favor.


The local team registered 10 collective aces. Chile served successfully in five times. Blocking game was even with 10 points converted for each team. 


The difference was marked with Bonacic performance, who closed the tournament with 176 points.
