China perform to a high level against Poland

Xia Runtao celebrates the victory over Poland

Tijuana, Mexico, July 6, 2013 – China overcame Poland with and now they expect a tough match against Russia, the European champions, a team they respect very much.

The Chinese captain also praised both teams for their high level of play in the semifinal match that capped the actions at the Baja California High Performance Center on Saturday.

Yu Yaochen, captain of China: “I am very glad for this victory against a strong team like Poland. They are very tall and it was very difficult for us to attack against their high block. We played at a very high level and very united.”

On the match against Russia:

“Tomorrow will be a very tough match. Russia are the European champions and a team with great skills. I hope we can play to a high level and will do our best trying to win.”

Bartosz Bucko, captain of Poland: “I think the result of the first set (32-30) was the key to decide the rest of the match. Congratulations to China.”

Ju Genyin, coach of China: “Both teams performed well even though we won the match. We were really lucky to win the fourth set because our team had lost a lot of energy. Poland played good defense and players 4 (Bucko) and 11 (Sliwka) played very well.”

On the match against Russia:

“Tomorrow we will try our best against Russia.”

Weislaw Czaja, coach of Poland: “I want to congratulate China, a great team. Today they took advantage of our serves and difficult with the reception. Tomorrow we will play against Iran to battle for the bronze medal.”
