Playing step by step, top priority for Karikov

Russian attack was very effective against USA

Mexicali, Mexico, July 3 2013 - Russian coach Alexander Karikov was clear when the press asked him about the expectations for his team to be world champions. The top priority is to go step by step and focus on Cuba as their next rival.

On the other side, American coach Colin McMillan, admitted that they faced a very tough team and wished the best to the Russian squad for the next round of competition.

Alexander Karikov, coach of Russia: "We have to go step by step, it is more important to think our match against Cuba. Americans have a great team, I really like it. They have good setters. I'm sure they will have a great future and I wish the best to my colleague (Colin McMillan)."

Colin McMillan, coach of USA: "Today's match was very tough for us. We knew it was going to be. We faced a team very well prepared. Their captain is very quick and they showed their strength."
Christian Blough, captain of USA: "Russia is a great team, more experienced  very physical. We never gave up in third set, but in the end we came down and Russia won."

Victor Poletaev, captain of Russia: "USA is a very good team, with a great tradition in volleyball. We went out and played a good match."
