FIVB Volleyball Girls' U18 World Championship

Press release

Two flags, one homeland. A duel between Argentinean coaches.

Julian Alvarez, coach of Argentina, gives instructions to his players in the match against Chile, whose National Boys' U19 team is coached by his fellow patriot, Daniel Nejamkin.

Mexicali, Mexico, June 30 2013 - Two Argentinean coaches, Julian Alvarez and Daniel Nejamkin, faced each other at FIVB Boys’ U19 World Championship.

Nejamkin and Alvarez played previously at the South American qualifier to this tournament. To share the court in the world stage with two brilliant and young squads has been a special experience for two CSV Zone representatives.

Julian Alvarez, coach of Argentina: “I am very convinced that we could give more, but Chile has shown very good progress since their classification and at the South American competitions.”

Daniel Nejamkin, coach of Chile: “Argentina played better. Chile improved on the second set. Despite this loss, I think that our two first victories have been fundamental for us in our first world championship.”

Dusan Bonacic, captain of Chile: “It was a very diffcult match. We didn’t start playing well and there was a big difference on the first set. After that it was more balanced but Argentina had a good setting and defending game and also knew how to convert those important points.”

Matias Miranda, captain of Argentina: “Things went right for us at this match with a positive result, but Chile showed a good performance on the last two sets. I wish them the best for this championship.”
