5th place is for Turkey, Russia defeated 3-1

Turkey Damla Cakiroglu attacks against Irina Fetisova's block

Brno, Czech Republic, June 30, 2013 –Turkey is No. 5 in the standings of Women’s U20 World Championship after their win against Russia 3-1 (25-23, 10-25, 25-17, 25-16). Svetlana Savronova’s team ended the event in Brno with a 6th place. Russia still played without their libero Ekaterina Voronova, who still had problems at her back which made her missing as well Saturday’s match. It was a very strange game, basically dominated by Turkey apart for the second set: Turkey completely switched off their energy, while Russia played almost perfectly. However, this mood lasted only one 18 minutes.

The first set saw a great performance of Turkey Ceyda Aktas, who scored 8 attack with 50% of positivity. The second set ended with Kseniia lchenko and Olesya Nikolaeva as most dangerous attackers well guided by their setter Elena Novik and watched by a petrified Turkey. Then the tide turned again and Ceyda Aktas went on with her spiking show. Russia blocked and served better then Turkey, but their positive stats by skills in this game were mainly due to their solo on the second set.
