Press release

Chile remanis undefeated. Second round in Bonacic's mind.

Cansin Ogbai Enaboifo scored 22 points for Turkey, but Chile's Rafael Albornoz (in picture) and Franco Vargas worked hard to keep an advantage on the fifth set.

Mexicali, Mexico, June 29, 2013.- It was a long process for the Chilean team to appear in the world stage with a new generation of players. Today the South American team is in the middle of an amazing journey for players like Dusan Bonacic and coach Daniel Nejamkin.

Dusan Bonacic, captain of Chile: "We want to show Chilean volleyball to the world, this has been an amazing opportunity to do so. This was a very tough and tight match. We knew it was going to be that way, but We are so glad for this victory."

Daniel Nejamkin, coach of Chile: "Internationally, we only knew one team after facing it many times. That team was Argentina, due to the South American competition. Turkey is a great team. It was difficult to beat them. Fortunately we played good collectivelly and had a key player like Franco Vargas".

Yigit Gulmezoglu, captain of Turkey: "Today we couldn’t play like we wanted. After the first set but we hope to correct our mistakes for the next match."

Ali Kazi Hidayetoglu, coach of Turkey:"Things went wrong with some errors in technique that need to correct. Beyond the result, I think there were good things. This championship has helped us to work with our new players and to evaluate how they play."
