Poland survive battle with China


Poland captured two more points and their third victory in a row

Tijuana, Mexico, June 29, 2013 – Poland held off a battling China to win a thrilling tie-breaker on their path to a third victory without losses 25-19, 25-22, 21-25, 13-25, 18-16 at the FIVB Boys’ U19 World Championship on Saturday.

The fifth set was a terrific contest with the players from both sides displaying rich ability and the show coming to an end when Pawell Gryc blocked Tang Chuanhang.

Aleksander Sliwka’s 21 points topped the list of the scores for the winners, followed closely Rafal Szymura’s 20. Gryc finished with 11, including his key block to close the intense action.

Zhang Zhejia had a match-high 7 blocks among his 21 points to head the scoring charts of China. Tang contributed 16 while Li Yuanbo and Wang Xiaoyong finished with 13 and 12 respectively.

China held a 16-8 margin in blocks and China led 8-6 in aces. The winners finished the match with 28 unforced errors to 30 by the defeated squad.
