The serves carried Belgium to victory

Belgium scored 13 blocks and 11 serves in the victory over Tunisia

Tijuana, Mexico, June 28, 2013 – The powerful serves of Belgium created a lot of technical problems to the side of Tunisia during their match of Pool B at the FIVB Boys’ U19 World Championship.

It was a strategy prepared for the Belgium coach after watching Tunisia playing well against Poland on Thursday night, and it paid fruits.

Steven Vanmedegael, coach of Belgium:
“I was impressed by their performance against Poland, the vice champions of Europe. I was concerned about that and prepared the tactics with our serves and we succeeded. Now we need to prepare for the match against Mexico.”

Lofti Ben Slimane, coach of Tunisia: “We had many technical problems, especially with the reception. It was match against a strong opponent and we couldn’t handle their serves to prepare the offense. Our hope is to win the match against Mexico.”

Sander Depovere, captain of Belgium: “For the first match I think we were focused but we have to prepare for the following ones.”

Waei Mrika, captain of Tunisia: “Belgium is a very strong team but we also made too many errors. In my opinion we must improve our reception game.”
