FIVB Volleyball Girls' U18 World Championship

Press release

We played on a higher level than before, says China super star

The semi-finals are not enough for us. We want to finish on the top of the podium, said China top scorer Zhu Ting.

Brno, Czech Republic, June 28, 2013 – China defeated Russia in a three-set thriller 25-21, 25-22, 26-24 and thus extended their perfect run at 2013 FIVB Women’s U20 World Champs to a 6-0 match and 18-0 set record. We will not change our way of play against Brazil, said China coach Xu Jiande after the Russia match.

China coach Xu Jiande: I am very happy with our performance. On Saturday, we will take on Brazil. We will not have any special preparations for this match. We need to play as we did today.

China top scorer Zhu Ting: Today we played on higher level than in previous matches. That are good news. However, the semi-finals are not enough for us. We want to finish on the top of the podium.

Russia coach Svetlana Safronova: The first reason for our loss were our mistakes. However, China was a very good contender. They display wonderful defense, wonderful passing and wonderful attack.

Russia captain Elena Novik: We did our very best to win but China played just amazingly today. However, I am not sure whether China can beat Brazil.
