China’s consistency close the door to home side

China used a lot of offensive combinations to beat a solid Mexico

Tijuana, Mexico, June 27, 2013 – It was matter of getting into a good rhythm for the China team in their match against home side Mexico. As soon as they warmed-up there was no doubt about the eventual outcome of the contest.

At the end of the day, China was confirmed as a power unit that combines strength with finesse and a group of players with outstanding athletic abilities.

Ju Genyin, coach of China: “It is the first time taking part in such important event and the players were a little bit impressed at the beginning but once they warmed up they were able to show what they are capable of doing. Mexico is a good team but we took advantage of our height.”

Oscar Licea, coach of Mexico: “We played close to them for the early part of the three sets but they kept the pressure and played at another level. Our players know now they can play with anybody is a matter of consistency. The Chinese put an extra at the second part of the sets. We will continue working hard.”

Yaochen Yu, captain of China:
“It was the first match and we had a slow start but then played well relaxed and the key for us was the union of all the players to battle for a good result. It was a very tense match but we achieved our goal.”

Mauricio Lopez, captain of Mexico: “It was the same story during the three sets. We started playing well but couldn’t keep their rhythm. They played better and we were slowing down. Their quick attacks hurt us and also their serves. We have to take this loss as a motivation factor.”
