FIVB Volleyball Girls' U18 World Championship

Press release

I congratulate every team who took part in this championship, says Turkey’s coach

Turkey's head coach Mehmet Bedestenlioglu and team captain Arelya Karasoy are happy to finish in ninth place in the Girls' Under-18 World Championship

Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, August 4, 2013 – Turkey’s head coach Mehmet Bedestenlioglu expressed his satisfaction over his team’s success. Following are quotes from head coaches and team captains from Turkey and Italy.

Mehmet Bedestenlioglu, head coach of Turkey: “I’m glad to end this World Championship with victory. I congratulate every team who took part in this championship here, especially the teams taking on us. We were disappointed not to have a chance to play in the quarter-finals. Today’s win was a consolation for that.”

Arelya Karasoy, team captain of Turkey: “I’m glad that we beat Italy. They played well. We lost to them two sets, but after that we came much stronger. We concentrated well. We are very pleased with our ninth place this time.”

Luca Pieragnoli, head coach of Italy: “We are very happy to play here. We did our best today. It’s a pity we lost our last match in this championship. However, I’m quite pleased with my team’s performance.”

Ofelia Malinov, team captain of Italy: “We did our best, but unfortunately we lost it. Playing in Thailand is such a good experience.”
