Press release

We played with motivation and our utmost effort to win this match, says Egypt’s coach

Head coaches and team captains from Egypt and Thailand at the post-match press conference

Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, August 4, 2013 – Egypt’s head coach Hesham Badrawy said that his team’s expectation for this World Championship was not that high, but they just wanted to gain more experience. The following are quotes from head coaches and team captains from Egypt and Thailand.

Hesham Badrawy, head coach of Egypt: “We thank Thailand for their excellent hospitality. Before taking part in this World Championship, we did not play any warm-up matches. Therefore, our expectation in this tournament was not that high. We just wanted to gain valuable experiences. Everything came up like what we have wished for. We gradually grew up in form and experience. Therefore, we played with motivation and our utmost effort in this match. That’s why our determination paid it off splendidly in this match against Thailand.”

Heidi Kandiel, team captain of Egypt: “We did it our best. We deserve the winners.”

Apichat Kongsawat, head coach of Thailand: “We played a bit drop from our level. We were so tired from playing tough matches. Thus, we played more wearily.  Both teams fought hard to win the fifth set, but Egypt came up with better form. Actually, we have played Egypt for several times. In this World Championship, we beat them in the group stage, but lost in this playoff.

Patcharaporn Sittisad, team captain of Thailand: “Our form in this match was quite okay. The only important thing was that we felt exhausted from playing previous tough matches. I think that’s the cause of our loss.”
