Press release

To win, we need a good play, says Turkey’s coach

Turkey's head coach Mehmet Bedestenlioglu and team captain Arelya Karasoy in an interview with journalists

Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, August 3, 2013 – Turkey’s team captain Arelya Karasoy said her team lost the first set because they lost their concentration. Following are quotes from head coaches and team captains from Turkey and Greece.

Mehmet Bedestenlioglu, head coach of Turkey: “Greece and Turkey are good friends as we are neighbouring countries. We did not play hard and not aggressive. To win, we need a good play. Most of my players are quite young, but they play well. I’m very happy that my team won.”

Arelya Karasoy, team captain of Turkey: “I’m happy that my team won this match. This is our fourth time we played Greece. We beat them three and lost only one. In this match against Greece, we lost the first set because we lost our concentration. But we came back in time as Greece were not good while we did our best. That’s all I can say.”

Dimitrios Floros, head coach of Greece: “It’s a disappointing result determined wrongly by the referee, especially the last point of the match. In fact, the referee should respect the players. However, the show must go on. We lost and I’m not happy with the result.”

Olga Strantzali, team captain of Greece: “I don’t know what to say. The result disappoints me and my team. However, we have to next play our last match against Chinese Taipei. We watched them play only in the third set, but I think they are not too strong to beat.”
