There is always winning and losing in sports competition, says Algeria’s coach

Tunisia's head coach Rim Ben Slimane and team captain Emna Khalfa in an interview

Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, August 3, 2013 – Algeria’s assistant coach Naima Belabbes said that her team has no problem for losing the match against Tunisia as there is always winning and losing in a sporting competition. Following are quotes from coaches and team captains from Tunisia and Egypt.

Rim Ben Silimane, head coach of Tunisia: “We are very glad that we won this match. It’s our first win and the last one in this championship. Ahead of the match, we had some doubts whether we could match Algeria tactically at the beginning of the match. After that, we improved our game. In the African Youth Championship, we beat them before. We had trained hard for two months in preparation for this World Championship.”

Emna Khalfa, team captain of Tunisia: “Algeria are a good team. We played them before. I think we have good luck in this match against the same rivals.

Naima Belabbes, assistant coach of Algeria: “We lost all matches in this tournament, but no problem for us. There’s always winning and losing in sports competition. Actually, we played Tunisia before in the African Youth Championship. In this match, we started well, but still lost the match. In the previous edition in Turkey, we finished 16th. Sixteen teams competed there, but here we finished 20th with a total of 20 teams competing. I think we did our best. After this, we will go back home and start training for the next year’s African Youth Championship.”

Selma Benmansour, team captain of Algeria: “We played bad. This match is important for us because we wanted to win. It’s a pity we could not win. Before the match, we always got nervous. I don’t know why.”
