Chinese Taipei are a very good defensive team, says USA’s head coach

Chinese Taipei's head coach Lo Chung-Jen and team captain Chen Yueh Ting talk to journalists at the Mixed Zone

Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, August 1, 2013 – USA’s head coach James Stone Il praised Chinese Taipei for making a good fight despite the size disadvantage. Following are quotes of head coaches and team captains of the USA and Chinese Taipei.

James Stone Il, head coach of the USA: “I’m very pleased with my team’s performance. Taipei are a very good defensive team. They fought hard in the first set and tried to come back after they lost. I praised them that they played very well with good defence. They made up to being short but worked hard in the back row. A smart team! We felt very impressed by Taipei. We are happy to win the match. I don’t know our chances against Poland. They are a good team. They are much different from Taipei, much taller and much more defensive. I just point we try hard and see.”

Taylor Tashima, team captain of the USA: “They are a good team. Although they are short, they jump high. They are very fast and their service was very good. I’m happy we won this match.”

Lo Chung-Jen, head coach of Chinese Taipei: “We made many mistakes. Our defence was better than the previous matches. However, our service was not that good. I think my players were panic whenever they made mistakes. The USA are full of energy and tactics we could not match them.”

Chen Yueh Ting, team captain of Chinese Taipei: “Our response was too slow. Our receiving was also poor. The USA are much stronger than us. We made too many mistakes in this match.”
