Lima, Peru, July 31, 2011 - Dominican Republic defeated Peru 23-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-18 in the FIVB Volleyball Women´s Junior World Championship Peru 2011 fifth-place match.
Elizabeth Martinez led Dominican Republic with 24 points in the match, next to Marianne Fersola with 14 points and Yonkaira Peña with 13 points. Clarivett Yllescas and Brenda Uribe led Peru with 10 points each, next to Grecia Herrada with nine points. Dominican Republic held a 10-4 advantage in blocks and a 6-2 margin in aces.

Peru started the first set strong. When the score was 6-3, Dominican Republic coach Wagner Pacheco asked for their first time out. Dominican service error helped Peru to reach the first technical time out with four points ahead. Dominican Republic's dig improved (three in the set) and also their spike (13 in the set), in that order, they reached the point difference of one and Peru coach Natalia Malaga asked for their first time out. Dominican Republic started to play harder and they tied score at 23-23. However, Yllescas and Katherina Olemar´s spike, defined the set 25-23 in 28 minutes.
The second set had a tight start. Peru was winning the set until Dominican Republic reached the tie score at 4-4 because of Brenda Uribe´s bad spike (two points in the set). The first technical time out was for Dominican Republic, thanks to Yonkaira Peña´s spike (four points in the set). Peru tried to recover the set, and the point difference decreased to three points. However, Vivian Baella´s serve (two points in the set) error gave the second technical time out to Dominican Republic. The set continued and Peru reached their 20th point against the 23 points of Dominican Republic. When Dominican Republic hit their 24th point, Peru scored two straight points thanks to Olemar´s spikes (two points in the set). However, Dominican Republic reached the partial victory to 25-23 in 28 minutes because of Peru spike problems.
The beginning of the third set was for Peru. The first technical time out came with four points of difference in favor of Peru because of a Dominican Republican serve error. Peru's reception was weak, so Dominican Republic reached the tie score at 10 points. Then, because of this problem, the second technical time out was for Dominican Republic at 16-15. The set continued the same path and Dominican Republic was ahead by seven points. Dominican Republic's spike (15 in the set) was the key for the victory. The set ended 25-18 in 25 minutes.
The fourth set had a good start for Dominican Republic. They reached at 8-4 lead at the first technical time out because of a reception error from Peru. Peru had serious problems with their dig (two in the set) and Dominican Republic knew how to take advantage of it. The second technical time out came to Dominican Republic at 16-10. Peru could not reach any growth in the set and the point difference was of six points. The set was defined 25-18 in 25 minutes, thanks to Elizabeth Martinez´s spike (7 points in the set).
