Venezuela crushes Thailand in a match without motivations

Mexicali, Mexico, July 18, 2009- The more insisting Venezuela players outclassed Thailand 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-23) in third day of the 2009 Women’s Junior World Championship pool A matches held here at Auditorio del Estado Ciudad Deportiva hall in Mexicali, Mexico on Saturday. Playing without motivations being lost the hope of playing for the top eight brackets the match went slowly without real interest but Venezuela team used their efficient spike service as well as their dominance in blocking to get the victory that improved their win- loss ratio to 1-2 to finish the first round at the third position. Thailand’s record dropped to 0-3 to finish fourth in pool A but both teams will leave for Tijuana to play for 9-16 positions.
 Thailand team started the match more disciplined and went easily to 4-0 lead forcing the Venezuelan coach to call an early timeout. The Venezuelan team responded quickly and scored 5 successive points that gave them the lead 5-4 through the activity of Wendy Romero and the middle blocker Daymari Brito and continued till leading 8-6 in the FTT. The Venezuelan players used the disturbance in the Thai’s reception to continue winning the set 25-19.
 Venezuela continued to use the tactical service as a weapon using the undisciplined Thai defense and led again 8-5 at the FTT. Although both teams lost the motivation but Venezuela team was more insisting to win as they deployed their block using the advantage of their taller players and conyinued again their service till winning the set 25-18.
 Thai players struggled in the third set through their middle blocker Tanapom Noosatsung and also the wing spiker Surasawadee Boonyuen but the Venezuelan blockers had the upper hand to stop all these trials. Venezuela captain Brito and Romero were superior to lead their team to win the set 25-23  and the match in straight sets.
