The Junior Women's National Team of Poland consists of
players born in 1990 and 1991.
Most of them train daily at the High Sport School located
in Sosnowiec in southern Poland.
During the 2006/2007 season, the national team
participated in the EEVZA Tournament, where it finish in second place. In the
qualification tournament for the European Girls Youth Finals in Bulgaria, the
Polish team also finished second and gained a ticket to the Final Round.
The European Championship in Brno, Czech Republic, was
not as successful for the team as they had hoped. Poland lost to Russia and
Germany in the group stage and was therefore unable to earn a podium finish.
After altering the training structure, the team regained
its confidence and achieved a spectacular success: victories over Israel and
Belgium at the European Championship Qualification tournament.
Poland finished sixth at the European Championship in
Italy, which gave the team a lucky group in the World Championship
Qualification tournament.
The team is currently full of belief in its abilities and
the players are eager to clash against the world's best teams. It is with such
an attitude that Poland travels to Mexico for the World Championship.
