Despite the defeat, German opposite Simon Hirsch led all scorers with 31 points. Indian opposite Dhanabalan Selvaprabhu scored 17 points while T.D. Ravikkumar added 15 points. The German team committed 33 errors to 20 by India.
The match started balanced, with both teams close in the scoreboard. When Germany started using better its block, the European achieved a 13-10 lead before having 16-11 in second technical timeout with Oskar Klingner stopping Indian attack. The Asian made a couple of substitutions, but could not avoid the 25-19 defeat, sealed with a spike of German captain Björn Höhne.
India recovered from the bad start and played better in the second set. The Asian took advantage of German errors to score 15-9 with opposite Dhanabalan Selvaprabhu. Germany managed to reduce the difference in the end of the frame, but, commanded by wing spiker Ravikumar, the Indian tied the match scoring 25-21.
The Asian started the third set ahead, but Germany quickly recovered and did not allow the rivals to have a big advantage. In the middle of the partial, the European took the control of the match led by Simon Hirsch. India reacted, tied the set in the 22th point and won 25-23 with a block of Vaishnav.
India kept the good level in the start of the fourth set and assured a small advantage in the score. With Germany making many mistakes, the Asian kept in the lead until the end and confirmed the win with a spike error of Hirsch: 25-20.
On its second match in FIVB Men´s Junior World Championship, Germany will face Egypt at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday. In the following match, India will play against Russia. This match will start at 12:30.
