Dinamo Kazan beat Molico/Osasco to claim Women's Club World Championship title


Russia's Dinamo Kazan celebrate the gold medal

 Zurich, Switzerland, May 11, 2014- Russia's Dinamo Kazan claimed the eighth Women's club World Championship title following their thrilling win over Brazil's Molico/Osasco in straight sets 25-11, 25-16, 27-25 in the final of the competition at Saalsporthalle in Zurich, Switzerland on Sunday.

 This is the first gold medal for Kazan and their country Russia in the history of the Women's club championship to add their name to the golden list, but it is the second gold medal for the European country in 24 hours after Belogorie Belgorod claimed the Men's Club World Championship title in Brazil early on Saturday.
 
 The competition star Ekaterina Gamova led the match scorers with 24 points including 3 killing blocks and 2 Aces followed by Larson-Burbach Jordan 14 points. Middle blocker Thaisa Menezes led Molico's scorers with 10 points followed by Sanja Malagurski 7 points.

 What made the victory easy for the Russians was the side difference in Blocking as they had 16-2 advantage 16-2 in this skill.

The Brazilians had no answers to the solid game of their opponents. Kazan only allowed a few attacking manoeuvres as they covered all attacking points at the net and on the floor.

 Dinamo Kazan started with their proper outstanding players and as regular the team with led by the fantastic performance of the big gun Ekaterina Gamova and the middle blocker Irina Malkova who made a solid barrier to her team allowing them to lead widely 8-3 at the first TTO. Kazan continued their superiorty in all the skills to continue leading widely 16-7 before they end the set 25-11 in 20 minutes.

 Molico started the second set more disciplined specially in defence to lead 3-2 before Kazan regained their rhythm to score successive points and reach 8-6 at the First TTO. Kazan controlled the net completely 10 kill blocks half of them to the name of Gamova to win the set 25-16 and advance 2-0.

 Kazan ket their pace , while Molico tried their best to enter the match through improving their block through Thaisa Menezes and Adenizia Silva, so they decreased the gap till they reaches 14-13. Kazan's middle blocker Regina Moroz spiked in two quick attacks to advance her team 16-14 at the second TTO. Again Kazan increased the gap to 22-18. Molico fought aggressively as Sheilla Castro played her best in the match as the Brazilians draw for the first time 23-23. Molico saved 3 match points before Gamova scored the winning point at 27-25 to win the match in straight sets and their first ever World Championship title.
