Zurich, Switzerland, May 9, 2014- A slick performance by Russia's Dinamo Kazan brought them their second win of the FIVB Women's Club World Championship 3-2 (25-11, 25-19, 20-25, 23-25, 16-14) against Brazil's Molico/Osasco at Saalsporthalle in Zurich, Switzerland on Friday.

After Kazan led comfortably 2-0, Molico came back aggressively to draw 2-2 before the exciting tiebreak showed hard fought for a narrow win for the Russians.

With the victory Kazan improved their won- loss ratio to 2-0 at the end of the preliminary round to lead Pool B with 5 points. Molico/Osasco dropped to 1-1 with 4 points to finish second and both teams already qualified to the semifinal.

Now Pool A winners Volero Zurich (SUI) play second of Pool B Molico/Osasco in the first semifinal on Saturday, while Pool B leaders Dinamo Kazan (RUS) will face second of Pool A SESI-SP (Brazil) in the second semis.

Despite committing plenty errors during the whole match, the superiority of Kazan in the areas of serve and blocking gave the victory to the European side.

Based on strong serves and huge blocks Kazan outclassed their opponents establishing overwhelming differences of 13-8 in the blocking stats and 8-4 in the aces category.

Irina Voronkova paced the winners with 20 points, including one block and one ace, while Maria Popova  and Irina Malkova and contributed 16 and 12 respectively. Thaisa Menezes led the defeated side with 20 points followed by Sheilla Castro 17.

Kazan started more organised specially with their skilful combinations led by the setter Daria Rossamakhina who succeeded to conduct the team through the outside hitter Maria Malkova and the tower Ekaterina Gamova, so Kazan went widely from the start 8-4 and 16-7. Molico committed several mistakes that allowed Kazan to complete their dominance with a wide point deficit reaching 25-11 at the end of the set.

The Russian team started the second set with the same strategy of using the powerful attacks through the tall players although he kept Gamova out of the field and started with Irina Voronkova, so they went to a 8-4 lead at the first TTO before Molico coach did some substitutions using some players from the bench like Juliana Castro and Gaby to narrow the score to 16-13 at the second TTO. Again Kazan with the tight blocking succeeded to end the set 25-19.

The third set was the most competitive as Molico decreased their mistakes than the first and second sets and used their big hitter Sheilla Castro to score a lot of points from position 2. After fighting aggressively Molico succeeded to lead 16-14 for the first time in any TTO 16-14. Again with the efficient Thaiza's block Molico could win the set 25-20 to narrow the score to 2-1 for Kazan.

Molico continued their pace at the beginning of the fourth set as they led 8-7 at the first TTO. The match went on point by point till Kazan regained the lead narrowly 16-15 at the second TTO. The Brazilian side was more insistent to win as they came to win the crucial points to narrowly win the set 25-23 and extend the match to tiebreak.

Kazan had early lead 4-2 with the proper blocking, Molico started to come nearer with Thaisa's blocks, but the Russian side turned the court at 8-7 before the match reached to the peak thrills at the end with a narrow win for Kazan 16-14.
